Nothing in these worksheets is a figure we found somewhere. Every number comes from the inputs you enter and the method stated on the page: the discount comes off the line total before tax, tax is charged on the goods and not on shipping, and the budget check is your own remaining balance less your own estimate. The defaults are a worked example, not a recommendation and not a benchmark.

Purchase requisition software has a narrow job: capture a request, check it against a budget, route it to the right approver and turn the approved request into a numbered purchase order without anybody re-typing it. Most products in the category do far more than that, because they are procurement suites that include requisitioning as one module, and a small business buying one ends up paying for sourcing, catalogues and spend analytics it will never open. The question worth asking is which of those four steps the product does well, and what the other modules cost you.

Check the budget behaves as a control, not a note

Some products record which budget a request belongs to and stop there. That is a label. What earns the purchase is the remaining balance being shown at the moment of approval, so the approver knows what saying yes leaves behind.

Check the threshold rule is data, not code

Approval thresholds change. If yours lives in a workflow that needs a consultant to alter, it will drift out of date rather than be updated. A threshold you can edit yourself is worth more than a workflow engine you cannot.

Check the requisition becomes the order

The commonest failure in this category is a requisition module that approves a request and then leaves somebody to key the purchase order separately. That re-typing is where the number, the price and the quantity drift apart, which is exactly what the system was bought to prevent.

Purchase requisition software: common questions

What must purchase requisition software do at minimum?

Capture the request with its budget line, show the remaining balance at approval, route by value against an editable threshold, and turn the approved request into a numbered order without re-keying.

Is this the same as purchase order software?

It is the half that comes first. Requisition software approves the intent to spend; purchase order software issues and tracks the commitment. A small business wants both in one record, which is what this product is.

How is Requly priced against the category?

Requly Pro is $49 a month for the whole team, flat. Zoho Inventory, which carries purchase orders, publishes $29 and $79 per organization per month; Precoro Core, priced for a procurement team, starts at $499 a month. All read 2026-09-04 and all sourced on this site.
